How it all started

I started subscribing to the Norway List on May 17, 1998. Five months later, I noticed someone writing to the list that he was going on a trip to Norway a couple of weeks later. I felt that it might be nice for him to meet some local Norway listers in Oslo so I wrote to him - Maurice Stenerson from Stillwater, Minnesota - and invited him to the first Oslo Reunion on October 27 1998. At that time, Odd Braathun was the only Oslo-based Norway lister that I had been in contact with (only a short telephone chat since he is my 5th cousin), so I invited Odd along to meet Maurice. We had a very nice time together :-)

A couple of weeks later, Gary Lewis from Santa Clara, California indicated on the Norway List that he was coming to Oslo. This was read by Kari R. Eide from Kirkenes in Finnmark - our northernmost county. She said that she would also be in Oslo on the same date and would very much like to meet Gary and Oslo listers. I invited some more listers from the Oslo area and we were six persons present at the second Oslo Reunion. Gary Lewis gave me the idea of taking pictures at our gatherings since he brought a camera. So.... an additional job for the waiter at our Oslo Reunions is to take our picture  :-)

Since the start in late 1998 we have had a lot of nice people visiting with us here in Oslo as you can see from the pictures on this web site.
